We had to retire from today’s VLN-final at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, but the season has been really great anyway.
The qualifying was good for me this time. I set a time of 08.54, and that’s the fastest lap time with our Audi RS 3 LMS ever. It was enough to secure P3 in qualifying, 4 seconds behind pole. I had some trafic on my lap, and I think I lost around 4 seconds on that, so I think we had the speed to take pole today.
It started to rain before the race, and Kenneth started with rain tyres. After a while it dried up, and Håkon went out on slicks. He was then really unlucky while passing a rescue car on the track. He had to go out of the racing line, and there it was still wet. He lost control, and we had to retire.
This is racing, and we all know that. We win together and loose together, and the most important thing is that Håkon is ok. Situations like this can happen to everyone.
The season has been fantastic after all. One victory, one second and two thirds are more than we hoped for in our first season with the Audi RS 3 LMS in the TCR-class. This has been a “learning year” for us, and the results are great. Our car is a bit heavier than some of the others because of the DSG-gearbox, and I hope the BOP will take that into account in the future.
Thank you for all support this season!
