Best season ever

We finished this season with a second place on Saturday. In six races we have achieved three wins, two seconds and one third.

Mathilda Racing was too strong for us on Saturday and deserved the win. But we were happy with second, and the season as a whole has been fantastic.

The qualifying on Saturday was as usual not easy for me with a lot of trafic and code 60’s. My first lap seemed pretty good, but then I got a code-60 at Adenauer Forst. Then I had a lap without yellows, but with a lot of trafic and a quite bad grip. The laptime was 08.52, and this was a second from pole position. My third lap was ruined because of traffic.

Kenneth also had traffic, so the 8.52 lap was our best from qualifying, and we started second. Kenneth had a great start in the race and was soon in front of Andreas Gülden in the Seat and Marc Basseng in the Hyundai. Kenneth won that fight, and drove som really good laps. Kenneth has done a really good job this year and he has developed a lot as a driver, which is really nice to see.

On Saturday Mathilda Racing had some faster pit stops than us because of a lower fuel consumption, and we couldn’t catch up.

VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nuerburgring 2018, 58. ADAC Reinoldus-Langstreckenrennen (2018-09-22): #801 – Håkon Schjærin, Atle Gulbrandsen (Audi RS3 LMS) – TCR

My stint in the end was ok. I had just one lap without anything special, and the laptime was 08.53, a couple of seconds behind Gülden on the same lap. Other than that it was unusually many yellows and traffic jams.

And that sums up my stints this season. We have some fantastic results and I feel I have done a solid job, but I have never really had the chance to drive as fast as I could. But that’s ok, the team’s results are what matters.

Anyway, this has been a really good season, and I want to thank my team Møller Bil Motorsport and all our partners and supporters. Let’s see what the future brings!
